What can you expect?
We are bringing back the Orange League Rules (Showcase Format) back for this fun event, so expect some extra deckbuilding rules. We have changed them slightly, in order to fit with the Pokéween theme.
- We will be playing 3/4 rounds of best of 1, 30 minutes per round, in a Swiss style tournament.
- The tournament will be open to all ages and all skill levels.
- You need an active Pokémon Play! ID in order to play in the tournament.
- The event will have some extra deck building rules to make it a little more challenging, those will follow below.
- A chance to come dressed as your favourite Pokémon (character).

Pokéween Showcase Format.
As stated, we will have some extra, fun deck building rules that we ask everyone to adhere to.
- Your deck can consist of only 30 cards, no more, no less.
- The games are played with three (3) prize cards in stead of six (6).
- You can only use cards that are currently standard legal, up to and including 30th Anniversary.
- Your deck can't have more than TWO (2) of each card, excluding basic energies.
- Your deck can only contain ONE (1) EX Pokémon in the whole deck, and this card cannot be a Mega Evolution Pokémon.
- Your deck can't contain ANY Ace Spec or ANY Special Energy cards.

The most important rule however, is what types of Pokémon you are allowed to run in your decks. You can only use Pokémon that have the Ghost, Dark, Bug or Poison typing. That may seem a little confusing, since there are no Ghost and Bug typings in the Pokémon TCG. But by this we mean the typing the Pokémon has in its official Pokédex entry. That of course brings a couple of extra rules with it:
- You DO NOT have to have Pokémon with the same colour typing anymore, you can mix and match as many colour typings as you like.
- You DO NOT have to stick to one of these four Pokémon typings, you can mix and match AS LONG as the Pokémon you're using have at least one of these four Pokémon typings.
- You CAN use dual-type Pokémon, AS LONG as every Pokémon in the evolutionary line has that typing. So you are allowed to use Bulbasaur-Ivysaur Venusaur, because they are all Poison types, but not Cubone-Alolan Marowak, because Cubone is not a Ghost type.
- To make the event as fun as possible, and to avoid everyone playing the same decks, we will announce a full ban list soon. As of yet, we know that the dreepy line and any and all hide 'n' sneak pokémon will be part of the list.

Costume Contest.
It wouldn't be Pokéween without getting dressed up. The theme will be Pokémon, of course! Come dressed as your favourite trainer, gym leader, champion or Pokémon. You can go all out with a full costume, or try and match the style of a Pokémon or character by dressing in a similar style or colour. You can even be creative and invent a style or outfit yourself. Imagine how you would look as the gym leader of a certain Pokémon type or as the Champion of your own region. You are still expected to play the TCG, so do keep that in mind when picking an outfit. We also ask you to keep the costumes PG13. To incentivize you all a little, we will be giving away an extra booster pack to three winning costumes, as voted on by the players!

If you have any questions about the deckbuilding rules or would like to check if a costume is ok to wear, you can always ask in the Rotterdam Pokémon TCG app group, or contact our store directly.
