Tasty Talks and SAC Art Amsterdam invite you to a special dinner edition of Chai & Conversations — an intimate evening where contemporary art, food, memory, and conversation meet around the table.
Inspired by SAC Art Amsterdam’s current exhibition, Upon Us, After, the evening explores how photographs, recipes, keepsakes, fragments, and inherited objects carry stories as they move across generations, places, and memories.
To honour the roots of visiting artist Amra Khan, the evening will centre around food, lovingly prepared by Shagufta, who specialises in Mughlai cuisine, and Manasi, founder of Tasty Talks.
The evening includes
Chai on arrival
A 3-course dinner
An informal art appreciation and conversation around selected works from Upon Us, After
A conversation with Amra Khan, who will be joining us to discuss her work and artistic journey
A shared storytelling moment where guests are invited to bring an object carrying a personal memory

We invite you to bring an object of your own — perhaps a photograph, handwritten recipe, piece of fabric, shell, family keepsake, childhood treasure, or an ordinary object that carries a story.
Together, we will gather around the table, exchange stories, look at art, eat, drink chai, and explore the different ways objects and food can carry memories of family, place, migration, and everyday life.

South Asian Contemporary Art is an art and crafts club in Amsterdam focused on contemporary art from South Asia. It explores themes and practices rooted in South Asian cultures, especially those connected to resourcefulness and improvisation. Events include fairs for printed matter and handheld works. One example is JUGAAD: Absolute Improvisation, a zines and prints fair featuring a reading room. The event highlights the concept of jugaad, showcasing how this idea of creative problem-solving and adaptation appears in art and culture. The fair brings together new releases and works that reflect the D-I-Y spirit.
