Approval mode

Last updated 20 August 2026

Approval mode lets you review ticket requests before people can attend your event. This is great for curated communities or events with limited spots.

How it works

  1. Someone requests a ticket for your event
  2. You receive an email notification
  3. You review the request in your dashboard
  4. You approve or reject the request
  5. The person is notified of your decision

For paid events, approved attendees then complete payment to secure their spot.

Enabling approval mode

When creating or editing an event:

  1. Look for the Approval required toggle
  2. Turn it on
  3. Save your event

Reviewing requests

When you have pending requests:

  1. Go to your host dashboard > Events
  2. Open your event and choose Review requests
  3. Requests are grouped into three sections:
    • Pending: waiting for your decision
    • Awaiting payment: approved, the attendee has a payment deadline
    • Expired: the deadline passed and the spot was released

For each request, you can see:

  • Name and email of the requester
  • Number of tickets requested
  • Answers to your booking questions
  • Guest names and details, if they're bringing others

Approving a request

Click Approve to accept the request:

  • For free events, the person is immediately confirmed
  • For paid events, they receive a link to complete payment

Rejecting a request

Click Reject to decline the request:

  • You can optionally add a reason
  • The person is notified their request wasn't approved

Payment deadlines for paid events

When you approve a request for a paid event:

  1. The attendee gets up to 48 hours to pay, but never past the event start time. If you approve close to the event, the deadline is shortened to fit; same-day approvals always get at least 2 hours.
  2. When less than 24 hours remain, the attendee receives a payment reminder email.
  3. If they don't pay in time, the request expires: their spot is released automatically and the request moves to the Expired section. You'll receive an email when this happens.

Expired requests can't be re-approved. The freed spot is open again for new bookings, and if your event has a waitlist, the next person is notified.
