Refunding tickets

Last updated 20 August 2026

Sometimes you need to refund an attendee. Here's how refunds work on Weeknights.

When to refund

Common reasons for refunding:

  • Attendee can no longer make it
  • Event capacity changed
  • You need to remove someone from the guest list
  • Event circumstances changed significantly

How to issue a refund

  1. Go to your host dashboard > Events
  2. Click on your event
  3. Go to the Attendees tab
  4. Find the attendee you want to refund
  5. Click Refund Ticket
  6. Confirm the refund

What happens when you refund

  • The full ticket price is returned to the attendee
  • The refund goes to their original payment method
  • The attendee receives an email confirmation
  • Their ticket is cancelled
  • The spot opens up again, and if your event has a waitlist, the next person is notified

Refund timeline

  • Processing: Refunds are processed immediately
  • Bank arrival: Typically 5-10 business days, depending on the attendee's bank

Partial refunds

Currently, Weeknights supports full refunds only. You cannot issue partial refunds through the platform.

Automatic refunds

Refunds happen automatically when:

  • You cancel an event (all attendees are refunded)
  • A paid ticket expires before payment (no refund needed, no charge occurred)

Fees and refunds

When you issue a refund:

  • The full ticket price is returned to the attendee
  • The Weeknights platform fee is returned to you as well, so a refund never leaves you out of pocket

Attendee-initiated cancellations

Attendees can cancel their own request while it's still waiting for your approval. Once a ticket is confirmed or paid, they can no longer cancel it themselves and should contact you to request a refund.
